Steam validating game files stuck 100 nyt app not updating

Yeah, they should really add something to let us know it's actually still doing something.

It spends about 20x longer on 100% than it does on 0-99% altogether.

Since updating to Norton Security a month or so again I'm unable to play Battlefield 4 for more than 10-15 minutes without being kicked by Punkbuster with this error: Game disconnected: you were kicked by Punk Buster.

I did also open a ticket with Evenbalance the makers of Punkbuster.

List of things that did not work: reinstall; delete the .blobs; deleting tf2 folder and revalidate; Things im currently trying: backup content, delete local content, reinstall from backup.

If that does not resolve the issue the launcher may have been corrupted and will need to be repaired before it will work correctly.

Disclaimer: this article is for people who have a desire to quit playing video games (or want to help someone they know who is addicted.) If you aren’t looking to quit, then this article is not for you.

When I did a new OS install I just copy-pasted the folder and did a file validation check and it worked ok.

When I try to launch it does the whole Validating Steam Files, finishes that and then the download pauses at 99% again.

You will therefore have to log in with a Steam username and password – if that doesn't help, you may need to purchase a copy of the game on Steam first.
